Fiberglass Prepreg

Our fiber glass prepreg is manufactured using glass fiber cloth and epoxy resin. This is the same resin also being used for our carbon and kevlar prepregs. You will absolutely have no issues using these three prepregs together.

Just like carbon and Kevlar prepregs, glass fiber prepregs also have plastic film and paper backing.

Category:

E-glass (electrical-grade glass) is the most widely used reinforcement fiber in composite manufacturing. Its combination of good mechanical strength, excellent electrical insulation, and low cost makes it the go-to choice for a broad range of structural applications — from marine hulls and automotive panels to wind turbine blades, sporting goods, and construction profiles.

Our E-glass prepregs are manufactured with a carefully controlled epoxy resin system applied uniformly to the dry fabric under tension, ensuring consistent resin distribution, minimal void content, and repeatable laminate quality.

Available E-glass Prepreg Products

SKU Dry Fabric Weight (g/m²) Weave Resin Content Width Thickness (cured)
CA-EFGP-200-P 200 Plain / Twill 33–37% 1–1.27 m 0.15 mm
CA-EFGP-300-P 300 Plain / Twill 33–37% 1–1.27 m 0.22 mm

The minimum order quantity is 25 meters. Standard rolls are 100 m × 1 m. Custom widths and weights are available on request.

Methods of Curing

Our E-glass prepregs are compatible with all common composite curing methods:

  • Oven cure — most economical; suitable for non-structural and semi-structural parts
  • Autoclave cure — highest laminate quality; low void content for structural components
  • Compression moulding — high throughput; ideal for flat panels and simple geometries

Curing Guidelines

After removing the prepreg from frozen storage, allow it to warm to room temperature (18°C–25°C) for 6–12 hours before unrolling or cutting. Re-seal any unused material and return to the freezer immediately.

Method Cycle
Oven Vacuum ≥−0.085 MPa — ramp 1–3°C/min to 90°C, hold ≥240 min (alternatives: 120°C/90 min or 130°C/60 min) — cool 1–3°C/min to below 50°C before demould.
Autoclave Vacuum ≥−0.085 MPa, pressure 1–7 bar — ramp 1–3°C/min to 130°C, hold ≥60 min — cool 1–3°C/min to below 50°C before demould.
Compression moulding Ramp 10°C/min to 150°C, pressure 1–10 MPa, hold ≥10 min — cool ≤20°C/min to below 50°C before demould.

Storage and Transportation

E-glass prepregs have a usable out-life of 30 days at ≤26°C / RH ≤65%. For long-term storage, keep frozen at −18°C where shelf life extends to 12 months. Rolls are vacuum-sealed and shipped with dry ice for international orders.
